I have been working in the mental health field since 2008, and I have had the pleasure of working with fellow practitioners specializing in the LGBTQIA+ population. I feel deeply committed to this population. I frequently see clients who identify as both queer and Autistic, and I enjoy supporting them in both their joys and challenges.
Many people who identify as LGBTQIA+ have experienced discrimination and social victimization, which has lead to chronic stress, anxiety, depression and sometimes self-injury. Discrimination and abuse can also come from within our own families, which is even more devastating. These experiences can create internalized homophobia/transphobia that deeply effect the way we relate to ourselves and to others. I am happy to provide you with a safe, affirming environment to explore the issues that may be interfering with your happiness.
